Many same-sex couples have waited for years or decades for the day that they could be legally wed. My same sex couples often have extraordinary stories to tell and I make sure those stories are told in a manner that truly reflects their history and love
Since becoming a wedding officiant, I have been a supporter of Marriage Equality. In the days when Marriage Equality was not part of California law, I served the Lesbian and Gay community by providing commitment ceremonies that symbolically formalized the couple's desire to commit to each other as spouses. When Marriage Equality returned to California, but not other states, I officiated at the weddings of couples from across the country including South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. Now I am happy and pleased to be able to provide same sex wedding ceremonies within the State of Caliornia that are not only symbolic but fully legal in all 50 United States
"Reverend Connie Jones-Steward provided an outstanding wedding ceremony for us. We couldn't have asked for anything better. She met with us for an interview to understand what we were looking for, and also had each of us answer a detailed questionnaire so that she may get to know us through each of our points of view.. We are 2 women who have been together for 14 years, and weren't going to marry until it was legal nationwide. We are not outright religious, but have more of a Wiccan-based philosophy. The ceremony she put together gave our guests a look into our lives, our long-time love, and our hopes for the future. It was very touching, tasteful, accurate, and humorous too. We did a hand-fasting ceremony, ring exchange, exchanged our own vows, and jumped the broom. Our guests were laughing and crying. Everyone commented on what a touching ceremony it was. It was absolutely great!
